Offered here are three pieces from The Jay Spectre Collection -- a sixty-piece collection of furniture utilizing glass, wood and metals -- designed for the Century Furniture Company and unveiled as part of Bloomingdale's centennial celebration circa xxxxs. The pieces include:
* A cerused white oak king headboard with integral nightstands features brushed steel plinths, steel pulls, and center medallion. The attached (by hardware) nightstands open to reveal a lower cabinet and have one drawer each. Similar items in good condition have been offered at auction for up to $6,500. Pricing reflects condition of this set.
* The two-drawer chest or "commode" features brushed steel plinths. Similar items have been offered at $1,500 and up.
* The high chest is in good condition and features brushed steel plinths and steel handle pulls. There are two drawers at base, four drawers inside the cabinet, a shelf and an insert piece that creates 6 cubby holes. The insert may be removed and the cabinet used as a TV armoire. There is a small, carefully drilled hole through the back inside the cabinet for threading wires. Similar items in this condition have been offered at $xxxx and up at auction.

Jay Spectre's design career began when he joined the staff of Hubbuch, a store in his hometown of Louisville, KY. In xxxx, he moved to New York to form his own design firm and received much recognition for his work. Spectre is the only designer represented in the permanent collection of the New York State Museum. He was named one of the top eight Designers of America by the Smithsonian Institution as part of their "Giants of Design xxxx" exhibition. The Chicago Merchandise Mart awarded him the Residential Design Excellence Award in xxxx and their Dean of Design award in xxxx.
Jay Spectre's work has been published in Interior Design, Architectural Digest and Abitare.
